Create documents, take notes and share ideas in real-time with anyone.
Meeting minutes, agendas and other meeting documents can be stored in Box. Participants can use their smartphones, tablets or laptops to access the documents without printing hard copies.Use Box in conjunction with note-taking apps, such as Box Notes, and save notes directly to Box. Notes can then be accessed and reviewed later from any device with Box access.
Sharing noteswith others is just as simpleand secureas sharing anything elseonBox, becauseBox Notes is builton top ofBox. If you create a note in a folderwhere you’re already collaborating with others, you don’t have to do anything to share it. Your collaborators will already haveaccess. And if the folder has no existing collaborators, your note isn’t shared and is as secure as anything else stored in Box.

Need to gather feedback on a project or proposal?
Send a collaboration invite link to colleagues that allows them to invite themselves into a folder if they wish to give feedback. Set the folder properties to hide all collaborators within the folder so that the source of the feedback is visible only to the folder owner. Collaborators can then comment on files and share their thoughts more openly.

Collaborate with Others
Bring the group together by creating a collaboration folder to store the project files centrally with access via multiple devices, platforms, and applications. Use Box's commenting feature to discuss files. Comments can be directed to specific group members by typing@group member's name. Group members will always have access to the most up-to-date files in Box, and older versions can be retrieved with version control. Group members can also be assigned tasks on files to help simplify the workflow of the group.

Link to Files Instead of Emailing Attachments
There is a better, more secure way to share information by email. Instead of emailing an attachment, create a URL to the file in Box and then share it by email. You can set the permission level (anyone with the link, people in your company, or people in this folder) so that people within your organization or even those outside of the organization can open the link and view the file.

Link to Files Stored in Box From a CSUN Website
Many of our webpages at CSUN contain links to documents, PDFs, Excel spreadsheets or PowerPoint presentations. Our current practice is to upload these files to the file list in Web-One and then create a link that points to the Web-One file directly. This works, but a smarter, easier way is to store the file in Box, create a public URL for the file and then copy and paste the URL into the webpage you are working on. The file remains secure in Box, and you as a web content creator can easily point to files as needed. You can also customize the URL, similar to creating an alias in Web-One.

Create and Edit Office Files from Any Computer
There are two new ways for CSUN faculty and staff to access the Microsoft Office Suite(Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote): 1) from a web browser and 2) from an iPhone or iPad.
From a web browser, log in tomyCSUNbox,or to theOffice Online Suite.
From an iPhone or iPad,create, edit and save Office files directly toyourmyCSUNboxaccount. You do not have to pay for any additional apps to be able to edit Office files from your iPhone or iPad. Instead, install the Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint apps for free.
