Maxx Crosby, who plays defensive end for the Raiders, speaking at The Voncast podcast recalled his experience playing with Mahomes. “You see the arm talent. Maxx Crosby had last played against Mahomes in January, where they even had a minor confrontation where they both trashed talk each other. You’re a cold-blooded guy to do some s**t like that,” Chiefs LB Justin Houston told Sports Illustrated.

While he certainly is not ambidextrous, looking at his skill with his non-dominant hand, one can’t be blamed for think so. So where does his prowess with his left hand stem from? It actually dates back to when he was a young boy in Tyler, Texas.

Like his famous side-arm throws, this one also goes back to his days of playing baseball. His father, Pat Mahomes, was a baseball star and naturally, he wanted his son to follow in his footsteps. His friends recalled how he pulled off a stunning shot while playing a cross-town rival. He was due to bat, and before leaving the dugout, the young Mahomes declared something before his team.

“We had a big lead like usual and he got up and said, ‘I’m going to go up there left-handed and hit a home run,'” his friend Jake Parker told Sports Illustrated. The future NFL Draft pick number 1, walked up to the plate and dug his left foot into the dirt. On the second pitch, he smacked the ball over the right-field fence and trotted the bases. His teammates were shocked.
