B6 Wednesday, December 22, 1999 METRO STATE Austin American-Statesman French filmmaker helped bring on cinema's New Wave BY MARILYN AUGUST Associated Press PARIS French film director Robert Bresson, who helped redefine French cinema by focusing on images rather than dialogue, has died, family members said Tuesday. He was 98. Bresson, best known for his austere approach and helping pave the way for the New Wave movement, died Saturday. No cause of death was given. French Prime Minister Lionel Jospin praised Bresson as a master of the filmmaking art whose "atypical and demanding works marked numerous generations of movie lovers." She was born May 24, 1911 in Spicewood, Texas to Willis B. Hays Agnes B. Long Hays. She married Luther Albert Robbinson August 14, 1943 in Austin. Mr.
Robbins preceded her in death in 1971. Mrs. Robbins worked for Scarbroughs for many years. She was a member of Church of Glad Tidings. She is survived by her only son, Kenneth R.
Robbins and wife, Susan; granddaughters, Sarah Bartlow and husband, Doug and Vanessa Robbins; one greatgranddaughter, Kaitlyn Bartlow, all of Austin, and several nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 22, 1999 at Wilke-Clay-Fish Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m., Thursday, December 23, 1999 at WilkeClay-Fish Funeral Home with Reverend Vic Schober officiating. Graveside service will be 3:00 p.m.

Randy Brian Cilek Randy Brian Cilek was born on July 15, 1963, and died on December 18, 1999, in a motor vehicle accident. He was the son of Raymond and Marlene Cilek and the brother of Rene Cilek Dymale, Raymond and Ryan.
