What To Wear For Gender Reveal Photos | the crystal press fashion blog (2024)
LET’S TALK GENDER REVEAL OUTFITS!
I highly recommend hiring a professional photographer for a gender reveal session. These 10 months fly by and anything you have to remember the time will be cherished down the road. The gender reveal videos are so fun and for SURE a great way to share with your loved ones, but I suggest doing photos too!
So, if you are going to hire someone, you should take advantage of the time you have and the professional quality and shoot a couple different looks. I know, not everyone is a fashion blogger like me, but you will appreciate it later. Trust me. Plus, who doesn’t love an excuse to buy new things and get dressed up?!
GET FANCY ~
Like I said, who doesn’t love a chance to dress up!? Having a fancy option for occasion photos is always my go-to. When I saw this sequin jumpsuit on REVOLVE I knew this was THE piece. Rose gold sequins?! YEP! This jumpsuit would be PERFECT for spring weddings and let’s just hope it still fits in May when my turn to be a wedding guest rolls around.
You can never go wrong with a little black dress. Or a long black dress. Or a black midi dress. Black is classic and the perfect basis to be able to accessorize your shoot! We loved using these balloons from our friend Dierdre in the shoot to share our baby girl colors to accent our simple looks.
To be honest, I have never really been one for anything form fitting. If you told me I would wear this dress in a shoot, EVER, a year ago, I would have told you that you were crazy. Then I started growing a human and gained a greater love for my body. That’s a sentiment for another post, but just wanted to say, a simple, sleek, sexy LBD is perfect for photos.
Luckily, there are so many great options for GREAT maternity clothes out there! Clothes that make you feel good while your body is changing. A lot of these places have options for things to wear before, during and after pregnancy so they won’t just get thrown out after the baby comes.
One of my favorite options is Pink Blush Maternity. This sweater dress is a staple from there and I just love how it hugs you in all the right places. They have soooo many beautiful and affordable pieces and I will be sharing more throughout my pregancy!
Typically gender reveal sessions are a surprise for the couple as well, so they should wear something gender neutral or something that represents both gender “colors” (I'm sure this language will be outdated in a few years when colors don't matter to people lol, but until then…).

Bringing a gift for a gender reveal is not a requirement, but it is a wonderful gesture to celebrate the soon-to-be new addition to the family. It's like the pre-party to the main event, where you get to shower the expecting parents with all the love, and maybe a little something special to welcome baby with open arms.
Most couples do not expect a gift at their gender reveal party since they already received gifts at the baby shower. If you are a guest at an upcoming gender reveal party and would like to bring a present anyway, we recommend a small keepsake to commemorate the occasion.
For example, at Gender Reveal Surprise, you can purchase smoke or powder cannons. You'll want to use them at a bit of a distance from one another, or tell everyone that the color purple means you are having a boy and a girl!
Some parents opt to wear a neutral color — like yellow — while others wear a combination of blue and pink. Sometimes, one parent wears blue, while the other wears pink — it's totally up to you.
Men and Women Attend -- It's common to invite men and women to the gender reveal party. While traditionally the etiquette of a baby shower is only to invite women. But these days more and more men are being invited to attend the shower.
The color powder is typically either pink or blue, representing either a girl or a boy. The burst of pink powder for gender reveal or blue powder for gender reveal creates a visually dramatic effect, signaling the baby's gender to the attendees.
This could include a bag of home-made cookies with blue or pink frosting, a bag of sugar-coated popcorn with a note saying “ready to pop,” a blue or pink candle, or a personalized mug decorated with “it's a girl/boy.” There are no hard and fast rules on gender reveal party etiquette, but it's a thoughtful gesture to ...
A gender reveal party is a celebration in which soon-to-be parents reveal the sex of their baby to friends and family, or when the parents find out themselves. This event used to exist as a private tradition parents did together. However, gender reveal parties recently turned into a precursor party to the baby shower.
