Common Lower Division General Education (GE) Plan G Course List
1. What is academic advisem*nt and why is it required for my first year?
Academic Advisors are professionals who guide students in exploring major and general education, connect students to campus resources, and explains university policies. Students are required to meet with advisors for their first two semesters to provide guidance and to ensure that students are enrolling in appropriate course choices.
2. I need help activating my CSUN email account. What should I do?
Please visitInformation Technology(IT) or emailhelpcenter@csun.edufor detailed instructions on how to activate your CSUN email account. Be sure to check your CSUN email account regularly for important deadlines and information.
3. How do I submit Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB) and/or transcripts?
You can submit official paper transcripts to the Office of Admissions and Records by mail. You can send a PDF of AP or IB scores toadmissions.freshman@csun.edu.
4. I am an incoming EOP freshman. Who do I contact regarding my advisem*nt and enrollment?
All incoming EOP-admitted freshmen are served by theStudent Services Center/EOP Satellitehoused in their respective academic college. Exploratory EOP freshmen are served by theAdvising Resource Center/EOP.
5. I am participating in the Liberal Studies Integrated Teacher Education Program (ITEP)-Freshmen Option. Who do I contact regarding my advisem*nt and enrollment?
Students participating in the ITEP-Freshman Option are served by theDepartment of Interdisciplinary Studies and Liberal Studieslocated in EA 100. ITEP-Freshman Option is for students interested in an integrated 4-year BA+Credential program. If interested in ITEP-Freshman Option, contactliberal.inds@csun.edufor eligibility and advisem*nt information. Students majoring in all other options of Liberal Studies are served by the Matador Advising Hub throughout their first year at CSUN.
6. I have been recruited and accepted as a student athlete. Who do I contact for academic advisem*nt?
Student athletes are advised by the Matador Achievement Center (MAC) depending on their sport. Please visit the MAC'sAthletic Academic Advisingpageto find the name of your advisor.
7. What should I do to prepare for my advisem*nt session?
You may prepare a tentative class schedule to review with your advisor. However, remember that the schedule you create is just for practice. You should make a list of your questions prior to your advisem*nt session. Be sure to inform the advisor of pending AP/IB/transcripts that may be transferable and used for major or general education. Since our advisem*nt sessions this summer will take place online, you may want to review and practice how to use Zoom (a free video conferencing tool). 8.Can I change my major before the term starts?
If you want to change your major to an impacted major, you are not able to switch this early. Impacted majors require completion of a minimum of 45 units, among other criteria. For information on impacted major and criteria, please visit the Admissions and RecordsFreshman Impactionpage. If you want to switch to a non-impacted majorbefore the start of your first semester, you can emailadmissions.records@csun.eduwith your full name, student ID#, and the major you want to switch into.
9. Who can I talk with if my Financial Aid award is still pending or I still need to submit documents?
Financial Aid counselors answer questions via email and over the phone. They are also working from the office Mon/Wed/Fri. You may email them atfinancial.aid@csun.edu. For additional information, visit theFinancial Aid Basicspage.
10. I have been notified that I must register for Duo Multi-Factor Authentication. What is that and how do I do I enroll?
Multi-factor authentication adds a second layer of security to your online accounts.
