Biography[]

Early Life[]

Crier was commissioned by the sovereign in Year 31 and Made in the Midwifery like all Automa. For all of her early life she lived in luxury in the sovereign's palace, attended by human servants who provided for her every want and need. Crier read, studied and wrote essays, and was never happier than when buried in her work. She longed to be on her father's Red Council so she could share her ideas with the world. She was very naïve and new little of the world outside the palace. Crier was the perfect obedient daughter and was always seeking her father's approval. She was raised with Sovereign Hesod's Traditionalist ideas, and always referred to him as "father".

Crier's War[]

At the start of Crier's War, Crier is engaged to Scyre Kinok, the leader of the Anti-Reliance Movement and the only Watcher of the Iron Heart to ever leave their post. Crier is reluctant to obey her father's order but as always, she acquiesces easily. She doesn't trust Kinok and his ideas but is willing to marry him to make her father happy. Kinok attempts to blackmail Crier by making her believe that she is Flawed and has a Fifth Pillar; Passion. One night, Crier falls asleep in her father's garden. She wakes and overhears her father and Kinok talking. In an attempt to get closer and hear what they are saying, she gets too close to the edge of the cliffs, and falls off the edge. She is rescued by a human servant, Ayla. Once back on solid ground, Crier finds she is crying, which reinforces her idea that she is Flawed. Ayla also notices, so the next day Crier calls her to her bedchambers and asks her to be her handmaiden. A few days later, Crier's father takes her to her first Red Council meeting, something she has always dreamed of attending. To her dismay he makes her stand silently in the corner and gives Kinok the empty seat she believed she was taking. Crier is furious, and realizes that she will never get a say in Rabu's future. Hesod sends her home early, and she sadly wandered the gardens when she hears music, and accidentally stumbles on a human Reaper's Moon festival. She is spotted by Ayla, who makes her promise not to tell anyone. They find themselves in a tide pool and Crier tells Ayla a story about a princess and a hare. Ayla demands a happier ending from Crier, not liking the original one. The next day, Queen Junn of Varn visits and tries to recruit Crier to help her stop Kinok. She then discovers that the Queen’s advisor is her twin-brother who she has believed to be dead since she was 9. Ayla feels betrayed that her brother could stand to work with the Queen, and they fight. Ayla is furious and betrayed. Later, Crier is in her chambers reading a letter from her friend Rosi about the black dust Kinok uses on his followers when Ayla comes in. Crier notices that Ayla looks sad and offers her bed for Ayla to sleep in. Ayla obliges, grateful to be sleeping in a comfy bed. As they are laying together, Crier accidentally breaks the clasp on Ayla’s necklace from her childhood, the only item she had left of her childhood. Crier pricks herself accidentally, drawing blood and activating the necklace. Unbeknownst to anyone, the necklace held the memories of Leo, Ayla’s grandfather. Upon being activated, the necklace shows Leo’s memories of what had happened many years ago. Crier “awakens” and finds Ayla on the ground, being pinned down and dragged away by guards. Despite Crier’s many protests that Ayla had done no wrong, she was dragged away anyways to the Scyre. Crier’s father then summons her, explaining that if another incident such as this one were to happen again, Ayla would be removed as her handmaiden.

Personality[]

She’s curious and kind with a longing for knowledge. She can be sensitive but equally as passionate in debates and discussions. She is very protective of those close to her, and she’s very determined in her beliefs and what she thinks is right.

Physical Description[]

Crier is tall and lean, with long black hair. She had brown eyes, that, like all Automa's, reflect gold in the sunlight. Crier, like all Automae, was Made to be beautiful, with symmetrical features and flawless, brown skin.

Relationships[]
