Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is simply going to attract every imaginable take from every corner of the universe and the onset of OTAs is just the latest opportunity. Speaking to reporters, Prescott spoke of his love for the game in the context of his ongoing contract negotiations and uttered the words, “I don’t play for money”. While Prescott will undoubtedly get paid handsomely for his services, social media is already flooded with sarcastic remarks by people who get paid for interactions. Meanwhile the right to backup the franchise QB for the 2024 season is a battle brewing. As comfortable as many are with the thought of Cooper Rush as Prescott’s primary backup, quarterback Trey Lance seems better prepared to unseat the incumbent.

Outside of the quarterback room, head coach Mike McCarthy said he met with VP of Player Personnel Will McClay and the team is far from done on player acquisition. The roster currently sits at 86 players, four below the 90 max. PFF has begun their offseason ranking players and wide receiver CeeDee Lamb is among the top players at his position. Defensive tackle Osa Odigizuwa was named as the Cowboys best kept secret as he enters the final year of his rookie contract while cornerback DaRon Bland received some love directly from NFL headquarters. After 26 years, the original ESPN Cowboys beat writer Ed Werder is leaving the network ending another era. All that and much more in this edition of Cowboys News and Notes.
